You can now group creative for Flexible Ad Format…
Not everyone has Flexible Ad Format yet, but if you do it’s only for Sales and App Promotion objectives. It replaces Dynamic Creative in those cases.
Creative Groups could be super interesting.
How it Works
After turning Flexible Ad Format on, scroll down to Ad Creative and you may notice the Add Group button above CTAs. If you don’t have it, you should soon (I don’t have it in my main account yet).
Add Group:
Create up to 3 groups and organize creative elements into common themes. We’ll show each person a tailored ad from the group they’re most likely to respond to.
The part about tailoring creative for each person is intriguing.
Each group consists of up to 10 images and videos, five primary text options, five headlines, and five descriptions. You can also customize the URL by group.
This is pretty crazy because within a single ad, those three groups could mean up to 30 images and videos, 45 text variations, and three URLs. You could highlight different themes or benefits for each one.
Reporting and Testing
On the downside, I’m still experiencing bugginess with creative breakdowns, so I’m unable to see a breakdown of performance by submitted creative. But, this isn’t really a feature for anyone who is looking to find a winning creative or combination. This is about giving the system options to get you the best possible results.
As always, if you actually want to find a winner, run A/B tests. But if you’re going to use the volume of creative that you can submit for Flexible Ad Format groups, that would be a very expensive test.
Flexible Ad Format is starting to get interesting. Is this something you’ll use?
