1.What inspired you to write this book? My inspiration to write this book was drawn
from my personal experiences as well as coaching conversations with clients. I
realized that while we can have hopes and dreams, the decision to act and make
these a reality lies within each of us. Once we decide, we can begin the
transformational process.
2. What exactly is it about and who
is it written for? “Decide to Be Your Future Self” offers a valuable and relatable guide for anyone
on the journey of transformation. I introduce my proprietary S.O.A.R. Method (Shift Your Mindset,
Overcome Challenges, Activate Your Plan, Reflect and Refine) to set the
foundation for personal transformation. Whether you’re looking to make a career
change, improve your health and fitness, or simply live a more fulfilling life,
“Decide to Be Your Future Self” can help you achieve your goals.
3. What do you hope readers will get out
of reading your book? I hope readers will be inspired to take the
reins and move forward in their journey of personal growth. I share my own
journey of overcoming challenges and transforming into the person I desired to
be. Through my relatable and honest storytelling, I offer practical strategies
and tools for anyone on the path to personal growth. From setting goals and
overcoming self-doubt to cultivating self-love and resilience, this book
provides a comprehensive guide for readers to become their future selves.
4. How did you decide on your book’s title and
cover design? The title of this
book was a chapter in my previous book, FLAP Your Way to Success. I discussed
that manuscript with an editor who said the chapter title was a different spin
on thinking about one’s future self, so I ran with this as the title of my next
book. I reviewed a couple of book cover designs, and the consensus was to
put my picture on the cover. We used the colors from my brand kit.
5. What advice or words of wisdom do you have
for fellow writers – other than run!? Being an author is a journey and there is a lot to learn, so
don’t get frustrated with the process. Work with reputable people, keep going
and don’t give up; chances are you won’t be an overnight success.
6. What trends in the book world do you see —
and where do you think the book publishing industry is heading? Three trends that I have observed in the book publishing
industry are: 1) digital formats (eBooks and audiobooks), 2)
self-publishing is much more accessible, and 3) there is a demand for diverse
voices and perspectives.
7. Were there experiences in your
personal life or career that came in handy when writing this book? Absolutely and I share some in my book.
One was being passed up for a promotion which made me decide that I needed to
create my own future career ladder. Frankly, had that not happened I
would not have pursued my coach credentialing and started my coaching practice.
8. How would you describe your writing style?
Which writers or books is your writing similar to? My writing style has a focus on the future self, with personal
anecdotes and actionable advice in a positive and encouraging tone. After doing research, my writing is similar to
Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield and Dale Carnegie.
9. What challenges did you overcome in the
writing of this book? My main challenge was
finding the time to write the book but
once I had my framework and chapters outlined, it was easier to chunk the work
into time blocks.
10. If people can buy or read one book this
week or month, why should it be yours? My book is a timely and
relevant resource for individuals seeking to improve themselves and their
lives. With the current state of the world, many people are facing challenges
and uncertainties, making personal growth and self-improvement more important than
ever. “Decide to Be Your Future Self” offers a message of hope and
inspiration, reminding readers that they have the power to shape their own
future and become the best version of themselves.
