JFC… been working in B2B tech marketing for about 6 years now. I’m on the Digital side and own our email communications. At every company I’ve been at, I’ve tried so hard to provide a measured schedule – provide proofs on time, along with their launch date and time, and expectations for metric delivery, etc. but I swear at every fucking turn people actively derail or disregard them…

I started the week with three emails. I provided my boss a schedule. But our leadership is actively hindering these timelines, either because we are still waiting on approvals or feedback or content, and in some cases, they’re giving me single day turnarounds on emails and micromanaging the shit out of the entire process.

9AM – THIS NEEDS TO GO OUT TODAY 🔥🚨

10AM – Provide a proof of the email and estimated launch time

11AM – Silence

12PM – Silence

1PM – Silence

2PM – Silence

3PM – Silence

4PM – Silence

4:30PM – “Let’s hop on a call, we need to make all of these changes and we still need it to go out before 10AM tomorrow”

Like is this the norm? Do companies actually schedule out and automate their email sends with intention, or am I naive enough to believe that these functions exist for a reason?

I just really want to know if this gets better because if this is what my life is going to be I need to look into a new career path.
