I believe that DesignOps for presentations is broken.

1. Design to template is tedious and costly
Designers usually don’t design in presentation tools, thus template slides are usually manually transferred from the likes of Figma or InDesign.

2. Communication and updating of templates is complicatedFeedback loops can be long. It goes back into the design tool to then manually transfer template designs again. Updating is complicated and won’t update already created and share presentations.

3. There is no design authority thus no design consistencyA few weeks in, it is quite common that at least parts of the presentation template have been abused by people by changing font sizes, layouts, colours etc.. Master or template slides can be easily edited and people are lazy. Instead of adjusting their copy to fit a given textbox, they rather change font sizes or the whole layout.

I came up with a presentation tool that fixes that by syncing templates directly from Figma and only allowing editors to make textual and media changes. Design or layout changes are locked. Figma comments are also implemented for easy one channel communication between designers and presenters.

Would love to get some feedback on this.
Is that a problem you are seeing and facing?
Are there other issues you currently have in regards to presentation design?
